Cottage Housing Development
  (CHD) By-law for Easton

   This fall, town meeting will be asked to consider a    revised cottage housing by-law for Easton. After    addressing thoughtful concerns raised this spring    and summer by various Easton Boards and Town    meeting participants, town leaders are ready to    bring the revised by-law to town meeting this    November. We believe that as the town seeks to    attract and retain young professionals, current    housing choices are simply not adequate.

Production Plan points out, “Ironically, the    techniques used to limit growth in most    communities have brought unintended    consequences: sprawl, the fragmentation of open    space, and the demise of housing choice. As used    in Smart Growth, ‘housing choice’ refers to a range    of housing types, prices, and locations so that    homebuyers and renters have meaningful choices    about where they will live.
